Dear AFIA Families,

As many of you know our students are taking the MAP test for the next 2 – 3 weeks. We know our students are talented and smart, and we know that standardized tests don’t capture the full picture of who students are — their creativity, resiliency, persistence, curiosity, empathy, leadership, self-awareness, etc. We also know that each of our scholars have grown in many ways this year – intellectually, academically, artistically, socially, emotionally, etc. In addition to working hard to prepare our students academically for testing, we have also been working on improving students’ skills in perseverance, persistence, stamina and digging deep to remember all that they have learned, even when the test is difficult.

Today, our staff performed a skit called “AFIA Super Heroes Take on the MAP Test.” In this skit, the Super Heroes of Persistence, Perseverance, Deep Thinking and Stamina are able to overcome the Frustration Villain and Uncertainty Villain. See below for pictures of our AFIA Super Heroes and our an image from the skit.

Here is the letter  that was sent home last week. If you have a 3rd – 5th grader, please chat with them about doing their best. Also, please make sure your students get plenty of sleep this week! Thank you for all that you do!
